At Collingwood, we focus on providing a range of funding to support our students’ personal development and employability. Each term Collingwood students are able to apply to a range of Student Opportunities Funds – which are grants, donated by our alumni, to support the costs of activities related to your personal development and employability. For example, we have supported students to complete sports training camps, take plays to Edinburgh Fringe, do training courses in theatre tech, take part in volunteering activities, music tours, and much more.
We believe that no Collingwood student should have to miss out on a life-changing opportunity simply because of financial concerns, and these donated funds help us to make sure opportunities are accessible to all Collingwood students.
From touring the UK as part of a Shakespeare production, to volunteering at refugee camps or participating in sporting competitions, this fund provides grants for extra-curricular activities that contribute to your personal development.
This fund is specifically for undergraduates receiving a Durham Grant or additional financial support as part of their Student Finance package. It contributes to activities that enhance personal and academic development. Previous recipients have toured New Zealand with the DU rugby squad and walked the whole perimeter of Wales!
Specifically for students with a home address in the North East of England, this Fund provides small grants to support the cost of your participation in college and university life. It can support the costs of core academic text books, kit for sports and societies, or even costs associated with employability activities or interviews.
We are also proud of the extensive programme of internships and opportunities we have built thanks to the generosity of our alumni and networks. Each year we offer Collingwood students the chance to apply to amazing, once in a lifetime opportunities in academic and professional domains and these are supported with funding where needed, to ensure that they are accessible to all Collingwood students.
