Britain’s largest amateur football club has been named among the world’s top Movember fundraisers for 2025.

Collingwood College Association Football Club (CCAFC) finished 12th in the UK and 88th internationally, raising an impressive £23,375 for the men’s health charity. This total doubles the club’s 2024 fundraising effort and is the highest amount raised by any football club worldwide.

Durham University was the top-ranked UK university overall, raising £137,695, with CCAFC contributing the largest share of any club at the university. Based at Collingwood College — the largest of Durham University’s seventeen colleges — CCAFC fields eighteen teams, making it the largest amateur football club in Britain.

Funds were raised through a wide range of challenges and events, including marathon runs, a walk spanning the width of the UK, bake sales, and other fundraising activities.

Although CCAFC is made up of both men’s and women’s teams, Movember was approached as a fully inclusive initiative. Club Charity Secretary Harvey McGlown said:

“While Movember focuses on men’s lives, CCAFC uses the campaign to raise awareness around mental health for everyone. It encourages our players to push themselves and, crucially, to talk to one another. It reminds everyone — across both men’s and women’s teams — that there is always someone to turn to within the club. Despite our size, we are as close-knit as a football club can be. We are one club, with one dream.”

Professor Thom Brooks, Principal of Collingwood College, added:

“We could not be more proud of the outstanding efforts of our college club in making such a meaningful difference. They are exceptional role models, and their work is truly inspiring.”
